9月10日、今日はお月見ですね。

保育園にすすきを飾ってお月見コーナーを作ると1歳児が興味津々です。

September 10, Day of the Harvest Moon.

The one-year-olds were very interested when we made a tsukimi (Moon viewing) corner and decorated it with susuki (Japanese pampas grass).

園見学の方が毎日続いています。保育園の中で遊んでいる子どもたちは、お客様が来るとみんなで窓から顔を出します。

そんなある日足元に「芋虫がいる」と気づいた子どもたち。小さなお友達はこわがって後ずさり。

The school visits continue every day. The children playing inside the school all look out the window when visitors arrive.

One day, the children noticed a caterpillar at their feet. Their little friends were scared and backed away.

幼児さんは先生と協力して紙コップに入れて、図鑑で調べていました。

The older students worked with their teacher to catch it in a paper cup, and to research what kind of caterpillar it is in a book.

芋虫のおうちを作るためみんなで東京外国語大学のキャンパスへお散歩に出かけました。

We decided to make a habitat for the caterpillar, so we went for a walk in Tokyo University of Foreign Studies’ campus to gather sticks and leaves.

小さなお友達はお昼寝。保育園は0歳から6歳までの子どもたちが一緒に生活しているので寝る時間や食事の時間が少しずつ違います。

The 0 and 1 year-olds took a nap because they have a slightly different schedule from the older students.

葉っぱや棒を虫かごに集めて、芋虫さんのおうちを作ります。

We were able to get many sticks and leaves.

芋虫さんのおうちができました。はっぱを食べて成長するのをこれからみんなで観察します。

Now that our caterpillar’s home is ready, we will observe how it eats grows.
