[PAL@TUFS - Participation Open] Animal Shogi Tournament & Shogi Class

▶Perfect as a first step for children who want to start playing shogi.

Are you familiar with "Animal Shogi"?
Some of you may have seen it in bookstores, but it's a modern adaptation of Shogi, a traditional Japanese board game and arguably the original educational toy.
It's designed to be easy to understand and fun, even for young children.

On a more compact 3x4 board than a standard shogi board, players move pieces adorned with cute animal illustrations.
Each piece has a mark indicating the direction it can move, and the orientation of the animals helps you figure out where to place them first. These features make it easy for children to understand and play.
Animal Shogi may seem simple, but it's surprisingly deep and can be enjoyed by both adults and children.

For this experience, we are pleased to have Madoka Kitao, a female shogi player ranked 2nd dan and the developer of "Animal Shogi," as our instructor.
Even parents and children who are new to "Animal Shogi" can easily learn everything from the rules to tips on how to get better.
Furthermore, I believe that the ability to "think ahead," which is one of the strengths of shogi, can be naturally nurtured through a fun and engaging game.

This is perfect for children who want to start playing shogi (Japanese chess) or for children who love board games!

Let's try Shogi at PAL International Nursery School @ Tokyo University of Foreign Studies!

▶A great first step for children who want to start playing Shogi!
Have you ever heard of “Doubutsu Shogi”?
You may have seen it in bookstores, etc. It is a modernized version of Shogi, an ancient Japanese board game and the original educational toy, designed to be easy to understand and fun so that even small children can play.
Shogi has been a hit with families with young children for several years, and has now become a new board game that has established itself as a firm favorite.

The game is played by moving pieces with cute illustrations of animals in a 3 x 4 square, which is more compact than a regular Shogi board.
The game is also characterized by the fact that there are many ingenious features to make it easy for children to understand, such as the direction in which each piece can move is marked, and the direction of the animals indicates where to place the first piece.
Doubutsu Shogi, which looks simple but has a lot of depth, can be enjoyed by both children and adults.

The developer of Doubutsu Shogi, Madoka Kitao Women's 2-dan, will be our instructor for this hands-on experience.
Parents and children who have never played Doubutsu Shogi before will be able to learn the rules and tips on how to become stronger in an easy-to-understand manner. The class will also provide an opportunity for children to naturally develop their “anticipation skills,” which is one of the advantages of Shogi, while having fun playing the game.

This is a great opportunity for children who want to start playing Shogi and for children who love board games!
